For Reviewers
We are always looking for reviewers to join our team. If you have no prior experience, but would like to learn more the Public Knowledge Project offers a course on becoming a reviewer (you will need to set up a login to take the course but it is free).

What makes a good reviewer?
You should have knowledge in the area/topic you are reviewing (you can list specialties in your reviewer profile, so when an editor is looking to assign work, they know what areas you are more familiar with)
You should be able to give constructive feedback in a timely fashion. If you are sent a submission and it's not a good time for you, it's best to be honest so the editor can move on to another reviewer. If you accept an assignment, please try to complete it within the given time frame. If something comes up, please communicate with the editor as soon as you are able. Clear and kind communication is always key.
To learn more, contact us at: openbiodiversity@gmail.com, with a brief description of any experience you have as a reviewer, any courses you are taking, and any areas of specialty you feel you would be a good fit to review.
Thank you for your commitment to open journals and student-led publications. Together we can make this a positive way for early career researchers to enter the world of scientific publishing.
