Abstract

This essay situates an argument about how poetic difficulty can manifest in more than just modernist poetry like Eliot’s ‘The Waste Land’. The article delves into the context provided within, and behind, Eliot’s and Hughes’ poetry and how the poet’s sociopolitical environment, particularly Hughes’, informed their work.
