The Edinburgh Student Literary Journal (ESLJ) publishes literary criticism and reviews produced by students and graduates of the University of Edinburgh. The journal was founded in 2020 with the intention of creating an accessible route to publication for students, providing a platform where their perspectives can be heard, and enriching literary life at university.

ESLJ is a peer-reviewed, Open Access journal. All content is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, unless otherwise stated. There are no fees to access or publish in the journal.

 


Aims & Scope

Our primary aim is to provide a platform for students to publish their work. Our scope is confined to academic essays and book reviews on literature, or with a strong literary component.

 


Governance & Ownership

ESLJ is owned and governed by the journal editors. Copyright to papers published within the journal issues are owned by their respective authors under Creative Commons licenses. The journal is published by the University of Edinburgh – a charitable body. Edinburgh Diamond – a service based within the University of Edinburgh Library – acts as the Publishing Partner by providing publishing services.

 


Indexing

ESLJ is in the process of being submitted for indexing in various databases.

Publication Frequency

ESLJ  publishes biannually: one Autumn/Winter edition, and one Summer/Spring edition.
